CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS: ACTOR/SINGER UNDERSTUDY (Male*)

Production: Jay VS the World.by Ali Joy Richardson, David Gershon, and Judy Adelman Gershon

Rehearsal period: January 28-Feb 4, 2019

Touring performance dates:February – April, 2019 (exact dates TBD), performances are during weekday daytime hours. Understudy will be scheduled approximately one day (usually two shows per day) per week. Additional shows will be scheduled as needed to cover main actor illness and absence.

We are seeking 1 male* actor for the roles of Jay in a touring production of Jay VS the World, a 50-minute, 2-actor musical that will tour schools (Grades 4-6) in spring of 2019.

This is a non-union, paid contract.

Funded in part by the Ontario Trillium Foundation and developed with an Advisory Committee of mental health-care professionals, Jay VS the World. is a ground-breaking new musical about emotional regulation, mental health and bullying. We are seeking an artist who:

  • Shares our mission of inspiring young audiences and destigmatizing mental health
  • Is a very strong and versatile actor and singer, with basic dance/movement ability
  • Is able to assist in set load-in, setup, and load-out (at up to 2 schools per day)
  • Can provide a Vulnerable Sectors police background check
  • Can commit one weekday per week (tentatively scheduled as Fridays) and has a strong likelihood of availability with 1-2 days notice for other days as they may come up.
