EAC has been a leader in programming for grades K to 3. Now, in a very exciting initiative, Education Arts Canada has received funding from the Ontario Trillium Foundation to develop programming for students in older grades. Our “My Voice” series engage students in grades 4 to 6 and will begin with a program exploring mental health. “The Secret Life of Riley K.” (tentative title) follows Riley as she discovers the role anxiety plays in her life.

PigMania will delight more than 50,000 students in teachers in Spring, 2017!

Our 2016-2017 programming for students in grades K-3 begins with our MathJam series. “Massively MathJam” explores mass and other primary math concepts with high-spirited theatrical fun. After that, our heart-pumping JiggiJump team will bring “JiggiJump Snack Attack” to in-school audiences across Ontario, exploring healthy food choices while working up a sweat in the most interactive school show out there!

Finally, get your orders in right away for Canada’s biggest touring educational series, Once Upon a Tune. This year will bring a new, bigger, better production of the great Canadian musical, PigMania! It’s a full-scale musical coming to some of the most beautiful theaters in Ontario and Quebec in Feb-May, 2017.

BeanStock • Live on Stage

Right on the heals of our biggest season ever, EAC will launch another great year of Canada’s finest curriculum-integrated school shows for our 2014-15 season. We’re thrilled to expand our popular Once Upon A Tune series to cities all across Ontario. This year’s show,  BeanStock, is a wacky spin on Jack and the Beanstalk and features a full cast, brilliant sets and costumes, and all the audience interaction that have made EAC shows famous. JiggiJump Rock will come to both theatres and schools this year, using a rock band as a metaphor for cooperation and diversity, while getting kids moving like no other show out there! JiggiJump is the musical work out adventure that has been used by over half a million students in Canada and that is now seen nationally on CBC Television.  Our popular MathJam in-school program returns with MathJam: Math Rules. MathJam is consistently rated as one of the best in-school shows ever seen by Canadian schools.

As many teachers know first hand, JiggiJump gets kids moving with music and adventures of the imagination. Now children can also experience the thrill and health benefits of JiggiJump in their own homes. Many thanks to the Ontario Government’s Healthy Communities Fund for its key role in making these broadcasts possible. Thanks also to Kids’ CBC, the Shaw Children’s Television Fund and Markle Productions for their vision and faith in the project. JiggiJump premiers Sept 3 at 10:11 am on Kids CBC. The JiggiJump educational program, complete with CDs and teacher resource materials, is available for theatrical field trips and for in-school presentations.

86% of educators surveyed said PigMania was “ONE OF THE BEST educational performances” their school has attended.

Our in-school programs (MathJam and JiggiJump) were also hailed by educators as among the best in-school programs they have ever had. 100% of respondents said the in-school programming was enjoyed by staff and students. 82% of respondents said the program was ONE OF THE BEST in-school presentations their school has had.

“This experience was the whole package…language, math, drama, dance, music, science, social studies and more. It was FUN!!!!! The performers reached out to the  students and staff in a wonderful way.. it was like a video game but even better, it was…LIVE!!!!. 

A Unionville, Ontario teacher wrote this about our recent PigMania show:

  “Every child and teacher too, enjoyed the performances.  The songs and tunes are catchy.  What an amazing opportunity to go to a theatre. From an administration point of view, the ease of organising the event is astounding. “

“This year, with over 70,000 students attending our performances, it is clear that Education Arts Canada is answering a real need,” says EAC Chair, David Gershon. “But, while most schools find EAC shows to be very affordable, it is still too much for some communities. We are hopeful that the Schools In Need program can help.”

Schools In Need works on the honour system, with schools who cannot afford tickets to EAC’s theatre shows stating what they think they can afford. Three weeks before a performance, if tickets are still available, EAC staff will allot remaining tickets to qualifying schools.
